If two people do something “in tandem” they do it together. A lot can be accomplished when we work this way. A nine year-old boy can zip line in the Smoky Mountains – in tandem – with his father. Or he can enjoy the adventure of white water rafting – in tandem – with his family.
I think you get what I’m talking about. Children with autism can go far (and high and fast) in life, with our help. They will soar above their disabilities if we get “in tandem” with them. Are you willing?
And yes, this is my grandson, Gage, with his daddy in the picture! My daughter told me that when they did the next zip line right after this one, Gage asked to go by himself without his daddy in tandem. And he did it! That’s how it works, isn’t it? He gained confidence in himself that never would have been tapped into without the first tandem experience with his father.
